Ithaca College Visual Language Development

The IC creative team’s work on the visual language came on the heels of the brand platform development. We looked forward to using the visual language to enhance how we communicate with audiences, heighten messaging, evoke a feeling, and create a sense of cohesion across everything we—and others—could make.

The process that we used to develop the visual language was:

  • Define IC’s personality traits
  • Map the brand personality traits to potential visual solutions
  • Develop a motif (theme) for the brand’s visual language
  • Explore the use of the visual elements to form the basis for the visual language

Exploration and development was focused on how typography, color, graphics, photos, and motion communicate the brand’s values and personality in a way that will allow for evolution of expression over time.
